Improvement of Educational infrastructure at Nyang Primary school

In 2019, Arise and Shine Care Center sought support from the People of Japan through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) to improve the educational infrastructure of Nyang Primary School. The school had 8 classrooms which were all mud walled with most classrooms at the verge of collapsing; 2 temporary pit latrines which were insufficient for the school’s population. The school is found in the remote areas of the sub-county surrounded by sugarcane plantations posing insecurity to the pupils. Parents in the area use a lot of resources to facilitate education of their children despite the prevailing high poverty levels in the areas. Through the support, we managed to construct 8 modern classrooms and 8 pit latrines for the school. This effort attracted contribution from the community which supported the project through fencing, construction administration block and additional 5 latrines. The project has enhanced the educational status of the area.
